Teaser Bet Payouts

A teaser is a combination between 2 and 10 football or basketball wagers. You adjust the point spreads and/or totals in your favor in exchange for a lowerpayout. When your teaser includes a point spread, you can decrease the spread for the favorite (or increase the spread for the underdog). When the teaser includes a total, you can increase the “under” or decrease the “over.”

Sweetheart teasers are a special type of teaser bet that rewards players who understand point spreads better than the average gambler. Available at some sportsbooks, especially those that cater to the US market, so-called sweetheart teasers exist that give the gambler even more points to play around with (anywhere from 10 or 13) but there is a. For example, a five-team 7-point teaser would pay out less than a five-team 6-point teaser. With a more basic example, one can see another big difference between parlays and teasers. A standard two-team parlay (against the spread) may pay anywhere from +200 (2:1) to +300 (3:1). See full list on gamblingsites.org. Pros target the two-team six-point teaser, which can be bet at roughly -110 or -120 odds. For example, say you like two favorites this weekend and both are -6.5 on the spread. A teaser bet shares something in common with parlay wagers. In both cases, you are placing two or more games on a single betting slip. You’ll need to be right on all choices in order to cash in. For example, on a three-team teaser, all three legs must be.

Bet
  • MyBookie will grade the entire wager as a loss if any part of the teaser results in a loss. There are no partial payouts.
  • A push in a regular teaser of 3 or more teams will reduce the number of plays in the teaser. For example, a 5-team teaser that results in two pushes will become a 3-team teaser, and the payout will be recalculated based on the new number of plays.
  • A push or tie in any 2-team regular teaser will result in a push for the whole teaser, unless the other game gets graded as a loss. If any portion of a 2-team teaser is graded “no action,” the entire teaser will be graded “no action,” unless the other team is graded as a loss.
  • MyBookie will grade as “no action” any event which does not take place on the date specified in the wager, and the teaser will reduce accordingly.
  • In the event that any teaser selection pushes or ties, the following rules apply. For special teasers, any tie or push is considered a loss. For 2-team teasers, tie + win = push, and tie + loss = loss. For teasers of more than 2 teams, a tie reverts the teaser to the next lower level.

Special Teasers

– NFL/NCAA Football Special Teasers are for 10 points (3 teams) and 13 points (4 teams).
– NBA/NCAA Basketball Special Teasers are for 7 points (3 teams) and 9 points (4 teams).
– For special teasers, any tie or push is considered a loss.
– For special teasers, any no action or cancelled game will cause the entire teaser to be graded No Action/Cancel.

If you've been availing yourself to USA Players information pages, including the ones that explain the different types of wagers, you know what a Parlay bet is, well consider a Teaser bet a modified version of the Parlay bet. Teaser bets may appear complicated, so a good way to grasp them is to simplify them down to separate smaller bets, then look at the whole, and that's the essence of the Teaser. The objective is to offer the player the chance to bet on point spreads or game totals to lessen the overall risk to the player. Adjusting, or teasing the spreads or totals gives the gambler a greater chance of winning, however, it also results in reduced odds.
To help you better understand Teaser betting, consider this example: the Detroit Lions are playing the Chicago Bears. The teaser bet lets the gambler wager on the spread and/or the total points. First, we'll use the point spread for the contest: The gambler chooses Detroit (I heard that) to win at +15.0 points, meaning that the Lions must beat the Bears, or lose by no more than 15 points. Now, let's say the gambler wagers on the total points scored in the game, using the under option: The gambler determines the game total (combined points of both teams) to be 60 or under.

Up to this point, for this to be a winning bet, the Lions have to win, or lose by no more than 15 points and the points scored in the game have to total 60 points or under. Finally, to make it a teaser bet the gambler is offered a 7, 8, or 9 point teaser on the wager. The gambler chooses an 9 point teaser, meaning 8 more points have been added to the spread (15 + 9 = 24 point spread), and the points are added to the total 60 + 9 = 69 pt total - or under. In the final analysis, in order for this teaser bet to win, the Lions have to win outright or lose by no more than 24 points. In addition, the total points in the game must be 69 or under. As illustrated here, it's best to consider teaser bets in pieces... basing your wager decision on each individual part of the bet.
